Centerfield for Man’s Hip Cloth
Beit tnana is the centrefield woven for a larger man’s hip cloth. As the centrefield it has the primary motif woven onto it and the sides that are attached will be decorated with stripes or some more simple patterning.
For the people of Timor certain animals, plants, rocks and water springs are sacred and become a clans totem. The motif on this cloth is called manu or chicken. Chickens are essential in traditional cultures as they are used for gift exchanges and for other rituals.
